Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

CPRT is a structured, supportive group programme for parents and carers of children from the age of 18 months to 11 years old. Caregivers attend 10 regularly scheduled sessions over 10 weeks. Each session lasts 2 hours. We will learn through a mixture of presentations, video clips, group discussions, and demonstration and skills practice. The group is usually made up of 5 to 8 caregivers and it provides a therapeutic environment for you to explore difficulties and to develop mutual support. CPRT can also be provided on a one-to-one basis to individuals or couples.

Number of sessions: 10

Frequency: Weekly

Session duration: 2 hours

Cost for group CPRT: £60 per person per session

Cost for individual CPRT: £120 per person per session

In CPRT we will work gradually and collaboratively to run your own weekly half hour “special play” session with your child.

This will be a predictable and reliably set-aside time for you and your child to connect and communicate through play. In our sessions I will support you to enhance your reflective listening skills, set effective limits, and enhance your child’s self-esteem.

The significant benefit of the CPRT approach is that you already have a trusting relationship with your child. Rather than having to build a new relationship with a therapist, you will begin to support them right away. You will be able to respond in a therapeutic way to the mental and emotional needs of your child which can support them over their lifetime.
